curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sazardev/wr/main/install.sh | sh
Then run it:
wr # the start page
wr https://go.dev/doc/ # an address
wr rust async book # not an address and not a file: a web search
wr notes.md # a local file
That is the whole command line. wr decides what you mean:
| What you type | What happens |
|---|---|
an address (example.com, https://example.com/page, localhost:8080/app) | opened; the scheme may be left out (https://, or http:// for localhost, private IPs and .local/.test/.lan names) |
a file (./notes.md, ~/docs/readme.html, /etc/hosts) | opened from disk |
anything else (postgres vacuum bloat) | searched on the web |
Press q to quit. Ctrl+C always quits too, no matter which panel is open.
The menu is the map. Press m (or ?) and you get everything the program
can do, with the key beside each entry: open an address, go back and forward,
history, bookmarks, the section index, reload, settings, the key bindings,
update wr and see what is new, open the page in your real browser, clear the
cache, edit the config file, quit. The title of the menu carries the version
you are running. Press / to find an entry by typing (see
Finding an option). If
you forget a key, this list tells you.
The first five minutes. With a page open, try these in order:

t | the page’s headings: pick one and jump to it |
f | a letter on every link: type the letter to open it |
/ then a word | the word highlighted as you type; ↑/↓ move between matches, enter keeps the one you are on, n/N for the next and previous |
o | the address bar; with nothing typed it lists bookmarks and recent pages |
* | bookmarks the page (press again to remove) |
m | the menu, where everything else lives |
, | Settings, where every option has a one-line explanation at the bottom |
